**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**
The Mycobacterial Laboratory under the Microbiology Department in LabPLUS is housed in the new state-of-the-art PC3 facility. This facility routinely offers mycobacterial culture identification, TB first line drug susceptibility testing (DST) as well as susceptibility testing for rapid growing mycobacterium for the regional laboratories and second line TB drug susceptibility testing for all of New Zealand.
The primary role of this position involves day - to - day responsibility for the general operational/maintenance oversight of the PC3 facility and technical knowledge and experience of all mycobacterial techniques.
You will have strong leadership skills with the ability to introduce new initiatives. Effective communication with the clinicians and the stake holders is required in this position. Previous experience of mycobacterial culture techniques and a working knowledge of containment principles especially correct use of primary (Biohazard safety cabinets) and secondary containment like PC2/PC3 laboratories as well as molecular experience is desirable.
This is a permanent full time role working Monday to Friday.

**Nga Pūkenga Motuhake | Important Skills**
You should be a registered Medical Laboratory Scientist and you will hold a current Annual Practicing Certificate.
This role requires good communication skills and a knowledge of analytical processes. You must have a strong attention to detail with a focus on quality and a can do attitude to work in a fast-paced and busy environment.
