**Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role**
Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join the Synthetic and Chemical Biology team at Te Kāuru - Ferrier Research Institute in Kelburn. This is a two-year fixed-term, full-time contract funded by the New Zealand Agricultural Greenhouse Gas Research Centre’s Early Career Researcher Fund.
The role will be responsible for conducting research in the field of synthetic biology to support our work with the New Zealand Agricultural Greenhouse Gas Centre.
Key responsibilities:
- Conducting laboratory work whilst maintaining independent judgement in the evaluation, selection, adaptation and modification of standard techniques and processes in the area of natural products biosynthesis and synthetic biology.
- Designing and developing project plans as well as contributing to the achievement of project deliverables in an efficient and time sensitive manner.
- Process results, present conclusions, and communicate in written and oral formats the outcomes of projects to the scientific community, colleagues, collaborators, and clients as appropriate.

Key requirements:
- Minimum PhD or equivalent in Chemistry, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrable natural product biosynthesis, key analytical or molecular biology techniques appropriate to working with fungal biosynthetic pathways.
- Experience in endophyte and plant transfection.
- Thorough understanding and demonstrated experience relevant to synthetic biology.
- Capability to work and communicate within the Ferrier Research Institute and with external collaborators.
