**About the Role - Korero mo te Turanga**

The Principal Adviser (Design & Implementation) is part of our Strategy, Performance & Treaty Partnerships directorate within Biosecurity New Zealand.

As the Principal Adviser, you will be a strategic thinker with the ability to identify opportunities and drive change. You will:

- Provide expert service design and business analysis to inform improvement across the biosecurity system.
- Lead key work programmes, development of guidance and business processes to successfully implement changes in legislation, regulations, policy or operating models.
- Develop and lead relationships with stakeholders and relevant directorates across MPI.
- Provide direction, share knowledge and expertise to support development within the team.

**About You - Mou**

You will bring a fresh, innovative perspective to redefine how we develop effective operational policies and design impactful services. In addition, you will have:

- A qualification in a relevant discipline and/or experience in service design.
- Experience facilitating teams to design, deliver, and continuously improve programmes of work.
- Experience in managing projects, plans ahead, regularly monitors and reports on progress towards achievement of plans and strategies.
- Experience establishing and effectively maintaining collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate policy and design concepts clearly.
- Understanding of biosecurity system and operating context including legislation and regulations.

**About the Team** - **Mo to matou Ropu**

You will report to the Manager Design & Implementation, and work within a team of Business and Policy Analysts based in Wellington and Nelson.

The Design & Implementation team brings together the disciplines of operational policy and service design to support the implementation of operational delivery changes across Biosecurity New Zealand.
