We're looking for a **Product Owner**to join our People & Capability team and help deliver a transformative programme of work.

A strategic thinker with a passion for agile ways of working and human-centred design, who thrives in cross-functional environments and excels under tight deadlines. **About the role | Ko te mahi nei**

As the Product Owner, you'll be the voice of the customer and the champion of the product. You'll work closely with project teams, People & Capability, and Digital to deliver a purpose-built HRIS or similar system that meets organisational needs and delivers real value. You'll lead product vision, strategy, and delivery in a large, complex organisation.

Key Responsibilities
- Define and communicate a compelling product vision and roadmap.
- Translate business requirements into actionable user stories and features.
- Lead agile ceremonies and ensure backlog prioritisation aligns with organisational goals.
- Collaborate with project managers, HR teams, and technical stakeholders.
- Facilitate stakeholder workshops and demos to promote transparency and alignment.
- Ensure delivery meets tight deadlines and maintains momentum.

**About you | Ko Koe Tēnei**
- Proven experience delivering HRIS or similar systems, ideally in a large complex organisation.
- Strong relationship management and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Deep understanding and experience in agile ways of working and project delivery frameworks.
- Ability to work across People & Capability and project teams with ease, able to break down any silos.
- Experience in digital transformation and change programmes.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and leadership capabilities.

Qualifications & Experience
- Tertiary qualification in business, IT, or a related discipline.
- Certification in or knowledge of agile methodologies and ways of working (e.g. SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager).
- 10+ years in a relevant role or industry, e.g. IT, People and Capability and/or product development/ownership.

- _ Location_ - This position is primarily based at Te Hononga, Christchurch City Council Civic Offices - 53 Hereford Street_
