The National Public Health Service (NPHS) within Te Whatu Ora, work towards Pae Ora (healthy futures) for all by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga/wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level intervention. We are connected across boundaries to deliver public health services that are nationally planned, regionally delivered and locally tailored.
We have a permanent, full-time opportunity to join the Prevention Directorate as the **Programme Manager, BreastScreen Aoteraroa. **This role is critical in enabling the delivery of the NPHS strategic agenda for Pae Ora (Healthy Futures).
**Mōu | About you**
The Programme Manager of BreastScreen Aotearoa provides leadership and programme management expertise within the Prevention Directorate, NPHS. In this role you will have oversight and workstream management across the national breast screening programme. You will have excellent interpersonal skills, whole-of-system thinking, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to drive change to influence. You will have a sound understanding of, and experience working with, priority group populations.
You're able to build rapport and have capacity to manage relationships at all levels, including senior officials and health sector leaders. This role requires strong collaboration and the ability to form relationships that work in partnership to meet the programme's Te Tiriti partners, clinical experts, Pacific health partners, and the providers delivering the breast screening service. As manager of this programme team you will lead with empathy, kindness, and create a thriving, positive environment where people want to succeed.
**Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience**
- A relevant tertiary qualification or related experience, preferably within health.
- Demonstrated people leadership experience
- Complex programme and project management experience
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Māori and/or Pacific models of health including the ability to work credibly in all cultural contexts
- Knowledge and understanding of contemporary health service management principles and practices.
- Demonstrated experience of successfully building, maintaining and managing strong stakeholder relationships
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- Demonstrated experience of health service design and commissioning (planning, procuring, contracting and evaluation)
- An understanding of population-based screening programmes
