We have full time Health Improvement Practitioner (HIP) positions available to deliver services in GP practices located in the Wellington area.
This role will see you working at our Wellington-based GP clinics providing mental/physical health and general well-being support. The role is based on the Behavioural Health Consultancy (BHC) model which has been tested and adapted for the New Zealand setting. This a generalist role who works alongside the GP team, peer health coaches and community support workers in an integrated manner.
**The role has three aspects**:
- Working with GP clients providing brief psychological interventions particularly Focused Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (FACT) as well as delivering evidence based-group programmes.
- Supporting, upskilling and educating the general practice team
- Supporting local population health by developing group pathways based on clinic needs
**Provision of training and supervision can also be part of the role.**
**You will have**:
- A post-graduate qualification enabling you to work therapeutically with clients (i.e. psychologist, psychotherapist, mental health nurse, social worker, occupational therapist or an AOD counsellor)
- Registration with a registering body under the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act (HPCA) and full membership with a Professional Association for your profession
- Experience working with clients and their whanau in a clinical setting
- Experience in working in evidence-based therapeutic models, particularly brief psychological interventions
- Experience and/or enthusiasm for delivering group programmes
- An interest in talking therapies
