Countdown is one of the most well-known businesses in the country, with a team of more than 20,000 people helping feed three million Kiwis every week. We’re committed to providing our customers with the best fresh food, value and shopping experience, whether that’s in our over 180 supermarkets or our leading online shop site.
At Countdown we champion responsible, ethical and sustainable retailing, and we play an active role in our community programmes and charity partnerships across the country. **About the Role | Mō te Tūranga
As part of the People team, you’ll report to our Internal Communications Manager and support and help drive awesome and effective comms to our teams across New Zealand. This role oversees our channel portfolio - you’ll have a real passion for figuring out how best to communicate with people and following it up with real data - and you’ll also help develop communications plans and roll out projects in a way that excites and engages our team.
Some of your key responsibilities will include:
- Managing our key internal channels, including Workplace by Facebook and our databases, and helping make some decisions on our intranet and who goes where for what information.
- Overseeing our daily communications to supermarkets, making sure information is clear, timely and makes sense (great spelling and grammar is a must).
- Providing writing and communications planning support for projects as and when needed.
- Getting to know people and building good stakeholder relationships across the business, particularly in our operations team.
- Developing and improving communications channels and executing strategies
**About You | Mōu
We’re looking for a communications specialist. Someone who can write and talk well, and someone who is genuinely interested in understanding and communicating with our diverse team. You’ll ideally be comfortable working within a large and complex environment, and your ability to influence key stakeholders will be evident in the way you find solutions to problems that might come your way.
To be successful in this role, your background will likely reflect:
- Experience within a communications role (internal communications experience is preferred, but external communications, marketing or PR experience will also be considered)
- A few years experience delivering projects and achieving successful outcomes
- Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills
- Strong interest or background in social media/ different comms channels and reporting
- Ability to engage and influence stakeholders across the business
- Channel/Intranet Management experience a bonus
- Ability to thrive under pressure and manage competing priorities
**Working with Countdown | Te Mahi ki Countdown
Our purpose is to make Kiwis' lives a little better every day.
We’re friendly, down-to-earth, and energetic - we work hard but we have a great time doing it, and we love what we do. There is plenty of scope for new ideas, lots of room for you to add value, and importantly, you’ll be working with a business that touches the lives of three million New Zealanders a week.
**Come as you are | Haere mai rā
We’re an equal opportunity employer and are committed to the principle of equal opportunity for all.
**If you’re smart and good at what you do, come as you are.
