Kōrero mō te tūranga | About the Role
Our Investment Management System Team is part of the Treasury's Budget Directorate and is the kaitiaki of New Zealand's Public Service Investment System - ensuring it delivers value and intergenerational wellbeing through:

- Enabling well-informed investment decisions
- Ensuring the system is efficient, effective and sustainable
- Enabling those with accountabilities across the system to perform their roles effectively.

We're looking for an enthusiastic and talented Principal Advisor to join the Investment Management System (IMS) team. This is a pivotal role within both the Public Finance System and the Investment Management Systems. This role's purpose is to, as part of a small team, deliver on a policy work programme that includes:

- Resetting the Better Business Case, Gateway, Capital Budget and Risk Profile Assessment policy frameworks into a cohesive policy framework.
- Redeveloping the processes associated with the Better Business Case, Gateway, Capital Budget and Risk Profile Assessment frameworks into a customer centric process.
- Redeveloping the Better Business Case, Gateway, Capital Budget and Risk Profile Assessment collateral into a cohesive set of customer centric documentation.

This senior position requires a rare combination of skills. To succeed in this role, you will be naturally collaborative and bring exceptional inter-personal and relationship management skills. You will have a proven ability to lead work programmes, understand different stakeholders' motivations and influence outcomes. In particular, you will bring:

- Deep understanding of public finance systems and practices nationally and internationally.
- Significant experience working in public policy roles and a deep understanding of the machinery of government.
- An ability to work at pace (when required) and deal with ambiguity.
- A strong track record of working collaboratively with a strong delivery focus.
