Are you passionate about shaping the future of people systems and enabling a positive employee experience? We're looking for a strategic and collaborative leader to join our People & Capability team as the Lead - People Projects.

This role is a fixed term position in response to increased demand within our high priority work programmes. We are surging in people and resources in response to these priorities.

**Mo te turanga mahi | About the role**

This role will support the Programme Manager in delivering the People & Capability workstream within the Ministry's organisation-wide implementation of our new Human Resources Information System (HRIS), payroll system, and associated platforms.

Equally important will be your ability to engage and influence leaders and kaimahi, helping to build understanding and support for the change journey. You'll foster a positive project environment through thoughtful stakeholder engagement and feedback, contribute to communication planning, and help identify learning opportunities to ensure our people are well prepared and supported.

- Proven experience working with HRIS platforms and payroll systems, with a strong understanding of HR practices and employment legislation.
- Demonstrated success in supporting and implementing complex programmes, including risk management, business analysis, and systems integration.
- A strong ability to set priorities, manage competing demands, and deliver high-quality outcomes within timeframes.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and presentation skills, with a track record of building and maintaining effective relationships across diverse stakeholder groups.
- A commitment to developing solutions that support culturally diverse and accessibility needs across the organisation.
- A deep understanding of HRIS, payroll, and related systems, including their interdependencies and impact on the employee lifecycle.
- Skilled in building trust and fostering collaboration across internal and external groups.
- Ability to interpret data, identify trends, and translate insights into practical, actionable strategies.

**Whanuitanga Utu a-Tau | Salary range**

Salary range for this role is $118,318 to $143,695 pa. Appointment within this range will be based on skills and experience.
