We are looking for a Senior Investigator to join the Market Studies team. This is a permanent position based in our either Tāmaki Makaurau (Auckland) office or Te Whanganui-a-Tara (Wellington) office.
Mō te tūranga | About the role
It's an exciting time to join the Market Studies team, as the Commission begins its work on the market study into personal banking services, having recently completed a third high-profile market study, into residential building supplies.
As a Senior Investigator in the Market Studies team, you will contribute as a thought leader on complex topics, lead information gathering and analysis work streams, and assist with report drafting, bringing the ability to cut through volumes of information and detail to identify the strategically important issues and focus points.
Working as part of a team to conduct enquiries and analysis, you will be interacting with a broad range of stakeholders and interested parties including senior leaders within some of New Zealand's largest companies. You will also lead and contribute to the drafting of complex analysis and reports.

This role requires a strategic ‘thinker', ‘analyst' and ‘writer' with established information-gathering and analytical skills.
**To be successful in this role, you will have**:
- Investigations skills and experience at a senior level, including strong analytical, organisational, and time management skills
- Operated within a multidisciplinary, collaborative project environment
- Knowledge of competition and consumer law, or public law or regulation economics
- High level of verbal and written communication skills incl. exemplary writing ability
- Tertiary qualification(s) in law, economics, finance, public policy or related field, with a sound academic transcript
