**The Company**

My client is a very large NZ organisation operating in the health sector. Having embarked on an exciting strategic transformation that will significantly extend their reach & service offering, the business has re-organised the finance team to be able to provide the delivery of a first class finance function going forward. This role is a direct result of this transformation change.

**The Role**

The role of GM Finance will report directly to an accomplished CFO. You will be empowered to lead the finance function to ensure a best in class Finance function. Your key responsibilities will include:

- People leadership and development of a core finance function - you will have a team of circa 12 reports in Finance, (7 direct reports)
- Own the statutory reporting and annual audit process
- Financial planning - supporting the budgeting & forecasting process
- Contribute to the strategic planning process & execution thereof
- Take on a governance role when applicable - assuming full accountability as a Director for joint venture entities.
- Take a lead role in ensuring finance systems and processes are optimised and ensure systems improvements are continuous
- Ensure accurate & timely monthly reporting with commentary that provides meaningful insights into financial performance
- Ensure that the finance component of management services provided to joint ventures are fit for purpose and meet the requirements and enhance the understanding of all stakeholders
- Maintain project & capital expenditure budgets (which are significant)
- Manage the tax accounting processes, ensuring the different entities are meeting legislative requirements
- Balance sheet management - from cashflow and treasury, short term investments, debt and interest rate exposure management and ensuring the banking relationship is maintained
- Co-ordinate the completion of business information returns to external authorities
- Work closely with both internal & external audit functions according to the Audit & Risk committee direction
- Ensure the risk & controls environment is managed
- Other ad hoc duties as required

**Skills & Experience**

To be considered for this role we are seeking a Qualified Financial Controller with the following attributes:

- 10-15 years experience leading a finance function
- Proven leadership in a multi-site, multi entity group
- Strong technical accounting skills that includes statutory reporting, group consolidation, tax, insurances, cash & treasury experience
- Practical experience with large ERP systems
- Proven analytical & critical thinking capability
- Strong communicator
- Collaborative working style whilst being able to influence
- Can demonstrate "executive presence"
- Commercially savvy
