Senior Transport Asset Engineer

**Job description**
We are looking for an experienced, driven individual with initiative to use specialist electrical and asset management skillsets with a passion to deliver quality and value for Christchurch residents.

The role involves looking after a wide range of Council owned electrical transport assets including but not limited to street lights, traffic signals, poles and tram equipment across Christchurch and Banks Peninsula. This includes organising condition rating of assets, whole of life planning, asset valuation, keeping the asset inventory up-to-date, and planning for maintenance and end of life replacement. This may also require liaison and engagement with internal and external stake-holders, reporting to elected members and public.
If you are an experienced electrical engineer with asset management experience who has a passion to provide quality and improve efficiency, then this is the job for you. You will be working in the Transport Asset Management Team, focusing on the electrical transport assets inspection, maintenance and renewals. The primary objective of the Senior Transport Asset Engineer - Electrical role is to provide outstanding service to Christchurch and Banks Peninsula residents while leading and efficient and successful management of the Council's assets.
**Purpose of the position**
- Lead and manage structural asset information and system development
- Ensure sustainable management of asset information systems
- Lead the preparation of forward work plans
- Contribute to ongoing development of Council Asset Management Plans
- Provide mentoring and coaching guidance to transport staff
- Provide technical leadership for area of expertise
**Qualification and Experience**
- Tertiary Degree qualification in engineering (BE) or equivalent in discipline
- Membership of Professional Institution(s) / professional bodies in engineering or planning disciplines at appropriate membership level
- 10 or more year's professional experience in asset planning/electrical engineering
