**About the team | Ko te rōpū nei**

Sitting in the Technical Services and Design (TSD) Unit, we are the Transport team who provide Civil Engineering services to enable the delivery of the Christchurch City Council's capital programme. We often collaborate closely with other teams in TSD such as Landscape & Planning, Survey and Contract Management, servicing wider units in Council.

We are committed to continuous improvement and ensure that our design services are efficient, sustainable, aligned with technological advancements and providing solutions that address the effects of climate change.

**About the role | Ko te mahi nei**

Our Senior Design Engineers design roading projects within the Capital programme, and also act as a senior professional advisor for all issues related to roading design. Their extensive experience allows them to contribute to the learning and development of others within the team. Responsibilities include:

- Undertaking detailed design, defining and solving complex design problems, integrating the needs of the site, the requirements of the client, public interest, statutory requirements and Council priorities.
- Providing project leadership of roading design projects covering the concept development, design and implementation phases of the project.
- Preparing cost estimates for roading projects by interpreting project drawings and relevant project documents
- Contributing to and assisting the Team Leader with the ongoing professional growth and development of staff by mentoring, coaching and empowering others.
- Proactively maintaining and strengthening relationships between the Transport Unit and internal and external stakeholders.

**About you | Ko Koe Tēnei**
- A Bachelors of Engineering (Civil) or equivalent tertiary qualification
- 10-15 years relevant experience involving roading design
- Demonstrated experience in local government asset management, planning, policy and project delivery.
- Demonstrated experience with consultation and managing partnerships internally and externally.
