**The Organisation**

The Timaru District Council aims to enable democratic local decision-making and action by, and on behalf of communities, to promote the social, economic, environmental, and cultural well-being of its communities in the present and for the future. With around 400 employees, there are a diverse range of roles from front facing community to support and technical specialists.

**The Role / Person**

Our highly skilled Building Control team are on the lookout for an individual skilled in Building Compliance. As our new Compliance Officer, your challenge will be ensuring building compliance at the highest level throughout the Timaru District

Managing compliance to satisfy the requirements of the Building Act 2004, including Territorial Authority obligations, you will work with our internal and external customers to ensure that legislation is achieved, maintained and monitored. When it comes to regulatory and enforcement functions, you will have it covered.

Covering a wide range of compliance administrative tasks for the crew, you will be an excellent communicator with the ability to meet statutory deadlines, organise workloads and determine priorities.

If your vocab covers Building Warrant of Fitness, Certificate of Acceptance, Exempt Building Work or Building Complaints you’ll be an ace at this role. A general understanding of building regulation and or a sound understanding of the building industry would be ideal.
