Chef/cook/baker - Our Paddock Cafe, Affco

Full Time (Monday to Friday 6am - 2.30pm)
We have an opportunity for a café superstar to join the team at Our Paddock Café located at AFFCO New Zealand in Horotiu (just north of Hamilton). AFFCO is one of New Zealand’s leading meat processing companies, and this site caters for up to 350 production workers and head office staff.
In this position you will be actively involved in all aspects of the café including front of house and assisting the chef manager in the kitchen with food preparation and baking, as well as keeping the café and kitchen clean and hazard free.
Use your creative flair to help build an inviting cabinet and display food for any functions at the site. Experience cooking in a commercial kitchen and an interest in baking will be an advantage.
To be successful in this position you will need to:
- be friendly and engaging, hard-working and flexible,
- have a strong customer focus and a passion for food,
- have previous experience in food preparation, and knowledge of food safety and hygiene,
- have experience in cafe and cafeteria style food service,
- operate Eftpos and POS machine with a smile.
This is a permanent fulltime position working 40 hours per week (normally Monday to Friday 6am - 2.30pm, with occasional Saturdays). It requires someone who is flexible in their hours of work as these will fluctuate to accommodate the various shifts and seasonal peaks and troughs of the production plant which operates around farming seasons (including a full shutdown during the month of September, and night shifts for one month per year). You will need to be resilient and comfortable working within the unique environment of a meat processing plant.
