**Mō tēnei mahi | About this job**
We are seeking a Kaiako to deliver our **_Manahautū: Police Focus_** programme, which involves but is not limited to: developing lesson plans, presenting material to tauira (students), responding to tauira learning needs, and evaluating tauira progress.
You will be responsible for recruiting and inducting tauira, implementing effective teaching and assessment strategies, monitoring academic progress, and maintaining accurate records in accordance with TWoA and NZQA requirements. Creating a collaborative, inclusive and culturally grounded learning environment will be essential to the success of this role.
This is a **_Fixed Term _**_(ending 18 December 2025) _**_Full-time _**_(37.5 hours per_week) position, based out of the **_Whirikōka_** campus in Gisborne. Some flexibility will be required to work some weekends and evenings.
**Mōu | About you**
You will be a confident Kaiako that brings energy and creativity that shines through in your delivery. You will need to have industry experience, preferably having held a role within the NZ Police, or proven experience in a related role. You should be able to demonstrate knowledge and appreciation of te reo and tikanga Māori.
Ideally, you will have:
- A Diploma in a related field
- New Zealand Certificate in Adult Tertiary Teaching (Level 5) or equivalent, or be willing to complete during the first year of employment
- National Certificate in Adult Literacy & Numeracy Education Level 5 (NCALNE L5)
- Full and current NZ Driver’s License (Class 1)
- Clean Police Record
As a kaupapa Māori organisation, your willingness to participate in cultural activities and develop an understanding of Āhuatanga Māori (values, culture and tikanga) will be key.
