Are you passionate about designing and evolving modern fibre networks? We’re looking for a Network Design & Operations Engineer to help build and maintain the core infrastructure that connects communities across Aotearoa. In this role, you'll translate strategic inputs into detailed technical designs and operational solutions that support high-performing, secure, and scalable network services.

You'll work closely with teams across Tuatahi —from Architecture & Strategy to Operations—playing a key role in the design, performance, compliance, and continuous improvement of our active network. Whether it’s supporting the rollout of new technologies, contributing to fault resolution, or ensuring regulatory obligations are met, you’ll make a meaningful impact every day.

**What you will b**e Doing**
- Support and enhance the active network, contributing to issue resolution, performance management, and service quality.
- Collaborate with a wide range of teams and service providers to ensure our network meets business and customer needs.
- Participate in technical conversations and help deliver projects that support long-term connectivity and innovation.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that make our systems easier, smarter, and more sustainable.
- Develop clear and effective design documents that support the delivery and ongoing success of our network services.

**What you will bring**

We encourage applicants from all backgrounds—even if you don’t meet every requirement, we’d love to hear from you.
- Around 5 years of experience in network design, ideally in telecommunications.
- Knowledge of networking concepts like Layer 1/2, xPON, MPLS, VXLAN-EVPN, or 4G/5G access technologies.
- Confidence creating documentation such as network diagrams and implementation plans.
- A collaborative approach to working across teams and solving problems.
- Industry or tertiary qualifications in network design or related areas.
- Bonus: Familiarity with cloud platforms, scripting, automation, or security system
