About WEL Networks
With over 300 employees, we're proudly based in Hamilton and are owned by the community we work for. We play an important role in the region's economic and social development by identifying and investing in new technologies to future-proof our region – and keep our communities flourishing.
About the role
This is a great opportunity for an experienced and suitably qualified person to become a member of our progressive 24/7 System Control (SYSCON) team.
Reporting to the Network Operations Manager, you will join our highly skilled Network Controllers in controlling the day-to-day operation of WEL's distribution network using GE PowerOn ADMS, an advanced modern control system providing integrated network control and workflow on a single platform.
This is a 'real-time', think on your feet role and is varied and stimulating - the efficient delivery of a safe and reliable electricity supply to our customers, while protecting the safety of our staff and community, will be your top priority.
About you
We are looking for someone who is an experienced Network Controller with:
An electrical qualification (with a B.E. or NZCE (Electrical) an advantage)
A focus on meeting customer requirements, the ability to prioritise, follow procedures and pay attention to detail
A high level of computer proficiency, excellent numerical skills and a clear and confident verbal communication style
Sound industry knowledge of distribution protection, equipment loading capability and reliability performance criteria
Working in a 24-hour shift roster will require you to be extremely reliable and a flexible, co-operative and supportive team member. However, you will also have to be capable of working completely independently, sometimes under pressure.
Additionally, it would be great if you have a comprehensive knowledge of distribution system operating procedures, field construction requirements and industry safety rules.
Staff Benefits
You will benefit from a powerful package of benefits if you join us at WEL – from medical, life, and income protection insurance, to relocation costs, ongoing career development and more – and most important of all, an excellent salary package.
Safety
Working within a safety critical industry, we are committed to making sure that both our people and our business are kept safe and secure. You will need to undertake a D & A test and complete a police check before starting work at WEL.

We actively value diversity and inclusion, so to start, tell us a little bit about the 'real you' in your application.
