We're building a high performing team of internal communications, channels and content experts - and we're looking for a digital channels advisor to join us.
If you've got experience of channels and content and can make sure our people stay connected to our strategic direction, organisation, senior leaders and each other, then we want to hear from you.
You'll be working as part of the Digital Internal Channels Team to support our internal customers, developing and publishing quality, accessible, up-to-date content to a wide range of channels and our intranet.
We're looking for someone with experience of managing internal digital channels, including intranets, newsletters and engagement via Teams, including championing plain English. We'd prefer someone who's a self-starter who can provide advice and develop engaging digital content to support internal comms initiatives or projects or wants to develop into this space.
**Your responsibilities will include**:
- Managing content including advice, guidance and final quality assurance on all intranet content.
- Identifying opportunities for content, usability, and accessibility enhancements.
- Developing engaging digital and multimedia content that brings to life our strategic direction.
- Supporting the team leader to develop the channels strategy.
- Acting as digital support for small to medium projects.
- Assisting staff to create, edit, publish and maintain accurate, timely, high quality, customer-focused, content for DOC's intranet and digital platforms.
- Performing quality assurance - making sure all content published to our digital platforms aligns with appropriate standards, policies, principles and guidelines, including New Zealand Government web standards, adheres to DOC style guide, is in plain English and has been assessed for risk.
- Creating or commissioning multimedia content, including graphics, photos, video, audio, and slideshows.
- Monitoring the performance of content, reporting on this, and identifying ways to improve.

If you have the following skills and experience, we are keen to hear from you:
- Demonstrated experience in online content creation and publishing, with proven ability to create content that is engaging, accessible and usable.
- Ability to write in plain English.
- Demonstrated experience using online marketing tools, e.g. Campaign Monitor
- Ability to develop, implement and evaluate digital strategy, standards, policies, processes and procedures.
- Practical experience with Content Management Systems (ideally Sharepoint), Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office suite.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including attention to detail, writing, editing and proofreading.
- Knowledge of digital content best practices, including writing for different audiences, plain English search engine optimisation, and accessibility.
- Experience in using analytics to make actionable recommendations for improvement.
- Excellent time management skills - able to handle multiple competing projects and tasks without supervision.
- Proven ability to quickly establish and maintain strong working relationships.
- Up-to-date with latest digital trends, techniques and technologies, with the ability to identify how these can be used in order to improve efficiency, quality and consistency.
- Continually looking for ways to improve our intranet, Teams sites and digital platforms.
- Measuring and analysing the performance of our digital channels - including audits against government web standards - and using insights to provide business information to our clients and our team to drive effective comms and improvements.
- Basic HTML and CSS knowledge.
- Knowledge of web accessibility standards is also highly advantageous.
**Desirable**:
- Basic graphic design experience would be useful
- Knowledge of te reo Māori and tikanga
- Video and photography skills
- Able to work with developers
- Experience with user research and testing
