About the Role
We know Payroll and have been processing payroll accurately and compliantly for over 50 years. The Principal Developer is a new role and in this instance is responsible for leading the software development of the UI/UX stream of our next generation SaaS Payroll Product, Datapay. We are modernising the experience for our customers that sits on top of our rock-solid engine. This role will suit an experienced hands-on developer responsible with all phases of user interface development, from architecture and technical design to implementation and customer engagement. As a technical leader you will be collaborating with the Product and UX team, Tech Leads/Architects and working with Development teams to maximise our value delivery pipeline as part of our Datapay Agile delivery approach. As a Principal Developer, you will play a critical leadership role in the design, development, and implementation of our payroll solution platform helping to build design patterns, mentor engineers, set coding standards and ensure end to end quality of work. While the technology selection below is very broad we will expect expert level capability in some areas and general knowledge experience in others and we look forward to discussing that with you at interview.
What you’ll bring
- 8+ years’ experience working on IT projects across multiple phases of the SDLC.
- Knowledge across current software toolsets such as C#/.Net, C#/.Net Core, Java
- Knowledge of systems integration using APIs; REST, web services etc
- Expert Knowledge of web front-end technologies such as HTML, JavaScript, CSS, React, Angular, Blazor or ASP.Net Razor.
- Knowledge of Integration systems: gRpc, SOAP, Batch.
- Knowledge of Containers (docker).
- Knowledge of SQL and NoSQL Database knowledge.
- Knowledge of Unit, regression and e2e testing.
- Knowledge of software configuration management using tools such as Git.

**Responsibilities**:

- Leading Development teams, including planning, controlling and reporting on progress.
- Capturing knowledge continuously as part of your work.
- Mentoring Developers in technical and other complementary team delivery skills.
- Ensuring that systems are developed within agreed budgets and time frames and achieving necessary design and systems security standards.
- Overseeing the analysis, design, programming, debugging, and modification of software for our Datapay product.
