**Mō te tūranga | About the role**
- Every three years, deliver a geospatial strategic plan and roadmap that continues to explore opportunities for uptake of improved ways of delivering the organisational geospatial programme.
- Lead the team to operate efficiently and effectively whilst looking for opportunities to enable the team to learn and grow.
- Ensure that the team provides support across the organisation with their geospatial needs
- Lead the development of projects to explore how new and emerging geospatial technologies could be applied to organisational problems.
- Develop collaborative geospatial projects with the Waikato councils through the work of Co-Lab.
- Be the Waikato Regional Council member of the Te Uru Kahika national geospatial special interest group that looks to find national solutions and ways of working together and with central government agencies.
- Contribute to long term/ annual planning, budget preparation, forecasting and reporting ensuring best use of resources.

**Mō te tangata | About you**
- Have applied knowledge and understanding of spatial analysis, data management, or spatial modelling.
- Proven ability in leadership roles, including leading and managing technical teams.
- Strategic and tactical thinking skills.
- An ability to deliver operational outputs and contribute to the strategic direction of the organisation.
- Sound project management skills with proven delivery against budgets and timelines
- Excellent communication skills - written and verbal.
- Proven success at building relationships and resolving issues with internal and external stakeholders.
- Broad general management skills including people leadership, business acumen and positive business achievements and financial management.

**Mō ngā pūkenga | Qualifications and experience**
- Relevant tertiary qualification in resource management, GIS, Information Technology or related field
- Related post graduate qualification, Masters Level desirable.
- 3-5 years' experience in management

**Mō te tīma | About the team**
- You will be part of the Senior Leadership Team of the Science, Policy and Information Directorate, having the responsibility of leading our 17-staff strong Spatial Information team. This role has five direct reports.
- You will be supported by the Team Leaders of Spatial Analysis and Data Management, and Spatial Analysis and Modelling, and along with our two Geospatial Systems Administrators.
