Auckland City, New Zealand Waste Management Full time

**Company Description** About us**:
At WM New Zealand, we are the largest composter, the largest waste-to-energy provider and have the largest commercial electric fleet in New Zealand, all powered by electricity from waste. As a team, we are constantly looking for new and innovative ways to redirect, neutralise and use waste.

We have an exciting opportunity for a hands-on Compliance Coordinator to join our high-performing team in Auckland.

**About the role**

This is not your average support role. You’ll be the operational backbone across three dynamic and diverse sites, each playing a critical role in our sustainability mission:

- Plastics Recycling Facility - A cutting-edge, state-of-the-art site focused on transforming plastic waste into valuable resources.
- Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) - A high-throughput site where mixed recyclables are sorted and prepared for reuse.
- Organics Living Earth (Puketutu) - A unique site dedicated to turning organic waste into nutrient-rich compost.

You’ll work closely with site managers and operational teams to ensure smooth day-to-day operations, compliance, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives.

You will play a key role in driving compliance with HSEQ systems, improving risk management practices, and contributing to a culture of continuous improvement and sustainability.
**Qualifications** Key Responsibilities**

This role combines field-level advisory support with coordination of key compliance activities to ensure we meet internal standards, legislative obligations, and customer expectations. Our compliance coordinator will:

- Provide administrative, operational, and logístical support across all three sites, including reporting, data entry, procurement, contractor coordination, and documentation for compliance and performance tracking.
- Support HSEQ initiatives by assisting with health & safety programs, audits, inspections, risk assessments, incident investigations, and ensuring corrective actions and documentation (SOPs, JSEAs, hazardous substances registers, etc.) are maintained.
- Guide managers and staff on compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality legislation and the company’s HSEQ Management System, while coordinating and delivering site-based training, toolbox talks, and committee meetings.
- Liaise with internal teams, external stakeholders, regulatory bodies, and third-party auditors, and act as the primary contact for incident management and injury case handling.
- Contribute to continuous improvement projects, support implementation of emergency and business continuity plans, and promote sustainability initiatives aligned with circular economy and environmental goals.

**Additional Information** What is in it for me?**

We offer a very competitive package, and opportunities to further expand your career with New Zealand’s largest waste collection company.

You will also be part of a great team committed to providing a comprehensive one-stop service to meet a broad range of facility, waste, recycling and industrial needs of our clients.

**How to Apply**

WM is an EOE employer and promotes drug and alcohol-free workplaces.
