Kōrero mō te tūranga ' About the role
Located across the harbour from Wellington, Te Herenga Tangata, provides services across the beautiful Hutt Valley. We have ten Occupational Therapists in our large inter-disciplinary team which includes Early Supported Discharge along with the Community ORA arm of the service. Our therapists specialize across a broad range of areas from neuro rehabilitation to complex housing modifications and Wheelchair and Seating.
Historically Te Herenga Tangata (Community ORA) has had an OT rotational position. However, over the next two years we have decided to take a different approach and have established a 18 month fixed term role for an experienced practitioner interested in improvement initiatives.
The successful applicant will support our Community OTs picking up a variety of non-complex clients. You will also be testing processes for us to improve the transition home for people who have had an acute admission, as well as looking at the role Occupational Therapy can play in admission prevention, both at ED and prior to presentation at ED. Whilst being part of our Community ORA team, this Occupational Therapist will have a close working relationship with Early Supported Discharge which is also an expanding team under the Te Herenga Tangata umbrella.
Mō tō mātou rōpū ' About our team
As we are a large Interdisciplinary team you will have access to Physiotherapists, Social Workers, Nurses, Speech Language therapy, Dietitians, along with our medical and Community Nursing colleagues. Our service delivery models are evolving and will see us using inter-professional practice approaches and delegating more work to our skilled Allied Health and Rehab Assistants.
We are continuing to build relationships with Primary Health and a broad range of Government and Community providers which is already making it easier for our staff to provide timelier, effective and equity focused health services.
Te Herenga Tangata has recently become part of a single Community Older Adults, Rehabilitation and Allied Health group together with our Capital Coast colleagues increasing professional and career development opportunities for our staff. Within this position you will have access to clinical supervision, the support of the OT Professional leader, in-service and external training opportunities relevant to your role.
Moū ' About you
The person in this role will be passionate about what Community Occupational Therapy and our broader team can offer to the well
- being of our people. You will be flexible, keen to innovate, have great communication and relationship skills, persistence, and most importantly a sense of humour.
Please be in touch if the role is of interest and you have any queries at all.
