About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Site Reliability / GitOps Engineer to join our team at Canonical. As a Senior SRE & GitOps engineer, you will play a key role in driving operations automation to the next level, both in our own private clouds as well as in the public clouds.

You will work closely with our IS architect to align your solutions with the IS architecture vision, designing and architecting services that IS can offer to the organization as products. You will also apply your experience of IaC to develop infrastructure as code practice within IS by constantly increasing automation and improving IaC processes.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Drive the development of automation, GitOps in your team as an embedded tech lead.
  • Collaborate with the IS architect to ensure alignment with the IS architecture vision.
  • Design and architect services that meet the needs of the organization.
  • Apply IaC expertise to develop infrastructure as code practice within IS.
  • Ensure consistency and re-usability of software operations across private and public clouds.
  • Maintain operational responsibility for all of Canonical's core services, networks, and infrastructure.
  • Develop skills in troubleshooting, capacity planning, and performance investigation.
  • Work with globally distributed engineering, operations, and support peers.
  • Focus on larger projects and automation of manual tasks.
  • Share knowledge and best practices with other team members.
  • Carry final responsibility for time-critical escalations.
