Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Officer to join our team at Tokoroa Hospital. As a Medical Officer, you will be responsible for providing quality care to our rural and disadvantaged communities. You will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to deliver proficient preventive, therapeutic, and diagnostic interventions effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work effectively with patients, families, and other professionals to achieve optimal health outcomes
  • Develop and maintain accurate patient records, adhering to strict confidentiality guidelines
What We Offer

We offer a competitive salary on the ASMS scale, plus a rural allowance, KiwiSaver superannuation, relocation package, study leave, and continuing medical education fund. You will also receive reimbursement for fellowship fees, Medical Council fees, and indemnity insurance.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess:

  • Vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand
  • FACEM or Fellow of the Division of Rural Hospital Medicine, or overseas equivalent
  • Experience in providing quality care to rural and disadvantaged communities
About the Team/Service

Tokoroa Hospital sees approximately 14,000 presentations per year through its emergency department and has a 17-bed inpatient ward. We have on-site plain film radiology and laboratory services available during the day and on call 24 hours, 7 days a week. We also manage palliative care within the community, allowing patients to be closer to their families.

Tokoroa is an ideal location as a gateway to the Central North Island's natural beauty, offering a unique blend of outdoor recreation and rich Māori heritage. The town is surrounded by lush bush walks, serene lakes, and scenic reserves, perfect for hiking, fishing, and boating.
