About the Opportunity

Nau mai, haere mai to an exciting role in Te Whatu Ora - Capital, Coast & Hutt Valley District. As a Consultant Psychiatrist, you will be part of Ngā Tai Oranga, The Healing Tides - Personality Disorder Service team. This is a permanent, part-time position (20 hours per week) that offers flexibility and opportunities for professional growth.

About the Role

  • You will provide supervision and consultation to mental health clinicians, focusing on working with individuals with severe distress intolerance, relationship and emotional dysregulation.
  • As a specialist in personality disorders and complex trauma, you will teach emotion regulation skills, case conceptualisation, and risk management to healthcare professionals.
  • You will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and have the opportunity to develop dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT) programmes.

About You

  • Vocationally registered in Psychiatry with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ)
  • FRANZCP or equivalent qualification and ability to register for vocational registration with MCNZ
  • Experience working with, treating, assessing, and formulating personality disorders, complex PTSD, and other co-morbid difficulties
  • Experience in evidence-based therapies for treating this group of individuals, including experience in clinically indicated risk taking
  • Ability to work in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
