Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Software Development Manager to join our Auckland team. In this role, you will lead a high-performance team of engineers, driving engagement and performance through coaching, mentoring, and empowering others to do their best work.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in technical delivery and can provide technical advice on complex problems. Key responsibilities include:

  • Coaching, mentoring, and guiding a team of engineers from diverse backgrounds
  • Hiring and training team members, utilizing tools like 1:1s, peer programming, whiteboarding, and training sessions
  • Helping the team deliver code in a high-trust environment using continuous delivery, ensuring a great delivery cadence and strong connection with stakeholders
  • Evaluating the performance of the technical architecture of our infrastructure and adopting industry trends

Required Skills and Qualifications:

To succeed in this role, you should have:

  • Proven technical experience in a Senior Software Development role
  • Prior experience in technical leadership to deliver solutions to complex problems, including architecting solutions and managing delivery
  • Significant experience working on major systems in one or more languages, ideally having worked on a SaaS product previously
  • Previous people leadership experience is ideal, but you're ready to take the leap into team leadership
