Tamariki Wellbeing Facilitator

About the Team
We are a team of dedicated individuals who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people and their whānau.
Our team works collaboratively to develop and implement plans that meet the needs of each individual young person.
As a Youth Worker, you will be part of this dynamic team, working closely with Social Workers, and other professionals to bring the Care Standards to life and achieve positive outcomes for tamariki and rangatahi.
Key Responsibilities
- Working alongside Social Workers to support the mahi of bringing to life the Care Standards and positive outcomes for tamariki and rangatahi
- Engaging with whānau and other people involved in the rangatahi's plan
- Spending time with the rangatahi and relating well to young people
- Attending meetings with the rangatahi and other professionals from a range of different agencies
- Making and coordinating appointments for rangatahi
- Involving in activity-based and recreational programmes with our rangatahi
- Taking young people to appointments that do not require a social worker's presence
- Helping rangatahi to learn independence skills such as shopping and budgeting
- Recording and other administrative tasks to support the team
- Supporting rangatahi to attend visits e.g. with mental health and education services
- May be required to attend visits to the home or with other whānau
Requirements
- Familiar with Te Reo Māori and Tikanga
- Full, clean, and current NZ Driver's License
- An understanding of Oranga Tamariki as an organisation
- Understanding and appreciation of cross-cultural practices in particular; knowledge of tikanga Māori, and Pacific peoples' culture
- While this is predominantly a business hours role, you may be required to work after-hours or weekends
