About the Role
Ophthalmology Department is accredited by RANZCO for training Ophthalmologists. It provides emergency, tertiary, secondary, and primary eye care to the people of Canterbury/West Coast, and the South Island.
You will enhance your career with first-class training and supervision from the Medical Education & Training Unit (METU).
Our Resident Doctors - Support Team (RDST) will be available to support you at all hours, including after-hours support from the Clinical Team Coordinators and SMOs.

About You
  • You must have completed PGY2.
  • Previous experience in Ophthalmology at a registrar level would be advantageous.
  • You must be eligible for a general or provisional general registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
  • You can demonstrate competency with te ao Maori, tikanga, and te reo Maori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth.
  • You have experience in projects/initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principles and frameworks, and the application of Matauranga Maori and Kaupapa Maori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.
