Ambassadors of Youth Parliament
**About the Role**
We are seeking ambitious and enthusiastic young individuals to join our Rito O Te Paremata programme. As a member of this prestigious group, you will have the opportunity to work on a project of your choice, aimed at increasing young people's engagement with Parliament.
The project could take many forms, from hosting workshops in schools and community centres to creating a mock select committee and inviting young people to submit their thoughts on various subjects.
You will be part of a team of eight young people who share your passion for democracy and social change. Together, you will engage with people who work at Parliament to learn more about the behind-the-scenes mahi that goes on every day.
This is a paid opportunity, offering the living wage on a casual contract. You will be expected to attend monthly meetings, both in person and via Zoom. The duration of the programme is April 2025 – December 2025.
To kete | What You Will Bring
We welcome applications from individuals who:
- Are between 16–20 years old (as at 1 April)
- Live in New Zealand and plan to live here throughout 2025
- Can travel to Wellington (all travel costs to and from Wellington will be covered)
We are looking for candidates with good communication skills, the ability to work well in a team, and enthusiasm for democracy and social change. Political neutrality is essential when representing our organisation.
Please note that we do not require any previous knowledge of Parliament or leadership experience.
We encourage applicants from all backgrounds to apply.
