About This Opportunity

We are seeking a dedicated Corrections Officer to join our team at Rimutaka Prison. As a Corrections Officer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the security and wellbeing of individuals serving sentences or on remand.

Job Overview

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about working in a values-led organisation and making a positive impact on the lives of others. You will be part of a supportive team that is committed to creating change and making our communities safer.

Key Responsibilities
  • Induct individuals into their unit and help them navigate life in prison
  • Supervise daily routines and provide guidance and support as needed
  • Work in specialised areas such as drug and alcohol treatment units, youth units, Pasifika units, Maori and tikanga focused units, mothers and babies units and special treatments units
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess strong interpersonal skills, the ability to communicate clearly and effectively, and high levels of integrity. You will also need to be able to operate effectively in a culturally diverse setting and have an understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
