About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join our team as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Diabetes. This role provides specialist nursing care and is working towards a Nurse Practitioner Pathway in Diabetes Specialty.

The successful candidate will be an integral member of our healthcare team, working towards an increased level of professional autonomy in collaboration with other health professionals to assess and manage clients within their clinical context using nursing knowledge and skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist nursing care to patients with diabetes
  • Work towards a Nurse Practitioner Pathway in Diabetes Specialty
  • Collaborate with other health professionals to assess and manage clients
  • Develop and implement evidence-based practice and clinical research
  • Engage in clinical education, mentorship and professional activities to assist development of extensions to practice

About You

  • Have completed three years full-time/0.8 FTE practice within the last five years
  • Meets level 4 of the local professional development recognition programme (level three working towards level four will be considered)
  • Has completed relevant postgraduate papers, minimum post graduate diploma and preferably masters in nursing
  • Is accredited via or meets accreditation criteria of the Aotearoa College of Diabetes (NZNO) national accreditation process and has achieved a minimum of 'Of Proficient Diabetes Nurse' on the National Diabetes Knowledge and Skills Framework 2018
  • Experience in diabetes care is preferred
  • Be a NZ citizen or hold a NZ permanent visa
  • Be a RN with a current NZ APC. Educational prepared or undergoing masters program
  • Be registered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand as a Registered Nurse
  • Hold a current Nursing Council of New Zealand annual practicing certificate
