**Job Summary:**
Auckland Council is seeking a skilled Financial Governance Lead to join their Risk and Assurance team. In this role, you will lead the planning, development, execution, and delivery of audit activities across Auckland Council and its CCOs.

**About Us:**
Auckland Council plays a vital role in ensuring council adopts processes, practices, and behaviors that enhance and promote our values and interests. Our team maintains impartiality, independence, and transparency while overseeing conflict of interest practices. As a key member, you will have exposure to our leadership team and Audit and Risk Committee through preparing and presenting governance papers.

**Responsibilities:**
You will be responsible for leading audits, identifying areas of improvement, and developing recommendations for change. Your expertise in organizational strategy, business needs, and public sector risks will enable you to understand legislative requirements and develop effective risk management strategies. Additionally, you will facilitate collaboration among senior-level teams and develop working relationships with various stakeholders.

**Key Requirements:**
To succeed in this role, you will need a degree-level qualification in a relevant discipline, such as business or finance. A professional certification like Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) or ISACA would be desirable. With over 7 years of experience in internal/external audit or risk management, preferably in a complex local government or private sector environment, you will possess the skills required to drive meaningful change within our organization. You will also be an excellent communicator and facilitator, able to influence at senior levels and build strong working relationships.
