About the Role

Taituarā is seeking a highly skilled Director Strategy and Planning to lead our strategy and planning group.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the organisation has clear strategic direction with defined priorities, integrated work programmes, and a Resource Management planning framework.

This is an exciting opportunity to develop and deploy robust strategic purpose to manage the region's natural resources, guide Council's broad range of services and functions, and drive collaboration across the organisation.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • To provide strategic advice, direction, and support to senior leaders;
  • To ensure the functional alignment of strategy and planning across Environment Canterbury, integrating programmes of work;
  • To apply a practical and pragmatic lens to the deployment of strategy and change leadership;
  • To lead development of effective future-focused policies, transforming practices and systems to enhance business performance;
  • To provide regional leadership, developing relationships with key stakeholders in Canterbury and throughout New Zealand.
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need to have high strategic acumen, significant experience in executive leadership, and a strong understanding of the machinery of Local Government.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of successfully leading change, engaging and influencing Boards at a strategic level, and motivating large-scale and complex teams.
