**Job Description**
As a Maritime Specialist, you will support compliance with safety, environmental, and health and safety regulations.
You will apply quality assurance practices consistently and identify improvements to ensure a culture of process improvement.
You will work closely with the Notifications and Enquiries team to support the end-to-end processing of enquiries and notifications.
You will conduct investigations into maritime accidents and incidents as required and participate in prosecution processes as necessary.
You will support our role in response incidents and undertake response-related training to acquire/maintain specific skills.
This is a field staff role that requires you to travel domestically and internationally.
**Required Skills and Qualifications**
We are looking for someone who is willing to be trained in modern regulatory practice.
You must have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to manage relationships at all levels.
A current driver's license is required.
You must be able to work in a culturally safe and respectful manner.
We ideally look for someone with an understanding of the Maritime Transport Act and Health and Safety at Work Act.
Health and Safety regulatory experience within local or national government or a similar international organisation is an advantage.
An understanding of the Maritime Operator Safety System (MOSS) is also desirable.
A proven history of educating and networking across a wide range of people and cultures is beneficial.
Experience working in the maritime or associated industries may be helpful.
