Public Safety and Rehabilitation Officer

We are seeking a talented Corrections Officer to join our team at the Department of Corrections NZ. As a key member of our staff, you will contribute to the rehabilitation and public safety goals of our organisation.
In this challenging yet rewarding role, you will engage with people in a positive way, supervise daily routines, and monitor behaviour and safety within the unit(s). You will also have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of prisoners and their whānau.
To be successful in this position, you will need to possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment. Relevant experience in a people-focused role, such as security or healthcare, is highly desirable.
We offer a comprehensive training program for new recruits, which includes an initial week's induction, followed by five weeks of training at our National Learning Centre in Wellington. Once qualified, you will be part of a supportive team that values diversity and inclusivity.
As a Corrections Officer, you will be required to work a 24/7 roster, including weekends and public holidays. In return, you can expect a competitive salary, ranging from $65,019 to $75,213 per annum, depending on your level of qualification. We also offer ongoing learning and development opportunities, as well as access to regional staff welfare coordinators and Maori & Pasifika support networks.
