Job Description

As a Corrections Officer, you will play a critical role in maintaining public safety and supporting the rehabilitation of offenders. Your responsibilities will include supervising daily routines, monitoring behaviour and safety, and engaging with prisoners in a positive way.

You will work closely with a team of experienced professionals to ensure the effective management of the unit(s). Your strong communication and interpersonal skills will enable you to build relationships with prisoners, staff, and stakeholders, while your ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment will allow you to adapt to changing circumstances.

We require a candidate with relevant experience in a people-focused role, such as security or healthcare. A current and full New Zealand driver licence or restricted licence with the ability to sit your full licence within the next three months is also essential.

We offer a comprehensive training program for new recruits, which includes an initial week's induction, followed by five weeks of training at our National Learning Centre in Wellington. Once qualified, you will be part of a supportive team that values diversity and inclusivity.

As a Corrections Officer, you will be required to work a 24/7 roster, including weekends and public holidays. In return, you can expect a competitive salary, ranging from $65,019 to $75,213 per annum, depending on your level of qualification. We also offer ongoing learning and development opportunities, as well as access to regional staff welfare coordinators and Maori & Pasifika support networks.
