Strategic Financial Manager

We are seeking a skilled Financial Accountant to join our team at Tribe Recruitment. As a key member of our organization, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the integrity of financial reporting and ensuring tax compliance for our clients.
About the Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing draft statutory accounts, audit working papers, and financial statements for assigned entities. They will also ensure compliance with tax obligations, including preparing and submitting tax returns. Additionally, they will maintain the general ledger and manage month-end financial reconciliations, oversee fixed asset register management, and provide financial analysis, reporting, and insights to senior leadership and the Board of Directors.
Main Responsibilities
- Prepare draft statutory accounts, audit working papers, and financial statements for assigned entities.
- Ensure compliance with tax obligations, including preparing and submitting tax returns.
- Maintain the general ledger and manage month-end financial reconciliations.
- Oversee fixed asset register management, ensuring accuracy in depreciation and reporting.
- Support year-end processes and external audits, liaising with auditors and third parties.
- Provide financial analysis, reporting, and insights to senior leadership and the Board of Directors.
- Strengthen financial controls, ensuring compliance with best practices and regulatory standards.
- Assist with cashflow management and reporting for subsidiaries.
- Provide training and mentorship to the Accounts team, fostering capability growth.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance financial efficiency.
About You
To succeed in this role, you will require a tertiary qualification in accounting or a related field, CAANZ membership (or working towards CA status), and 3+ years of financial accounting experience in a large or complex organisation. You should possess strong technical expertise in financial reporting, tax compliance, and accounting standards, as well as proficiency in ERP systems (preferably Microsoft Business Central) and Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerBI, and financial reporting tools). A strong analytical mind with excellent attention to detail is essential, and experience working in a Te Ao Maori environment is an advantage.
