Maori Health Business Strategist at Ministry of Health

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Maori Health Business Strategist to join our team working to advance hauora Māori, Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and equity across the Ministry of Health.

In this role, you will provide operational support to strengthen organisational capability to achieve pae ora (healthy futures) for Māori. This involves collaborating with Principal and Senior Advisors to deliver high-quality, specialised hauora Māori, Te Tiriti, and equity advice and solutions.

  • Gather and analyse data to provide sound strategic and operational advice for project management and decision-making.
  • Support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of projects, programmes, workshops, tools, and frameworks to drive organisational success.
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to deliver impactful outcomes that align with the Ministry's priorities.

Key Requirements

  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant field or equivalent experience
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to foster good stakeholder relationships
  • Experience in working effectively as part of a team
  • Proven organisational skills with the ability to think ahead, prioritise and meet deadlines whilst preserving high levels of accuracy and confidentiality
  • Knowledge and understanding of central government, ministry and ministerial settings, and hauora Māori
  • Knowledge of Te Ao Māori and Te Tiriti o Waitangi
  • Understanding of equity and addressing differences in population health outcomes
