About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Fire Engineer to join our team in Christchurch. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in fire engineering design, with experience in developing and maintaining client relationships, as well as working across a range of projects nationally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide fire engineering design services across projects, including preparation of fire reports and drawings.
  • Develop and maintain strong technical design and produce documentation for building consent.
  • Conduct prescriptive fire design using NZ Building Code Acceptable Solution documents.
  • Perform performance-based fire engineered design and specific engineering design solutions using C/VM2 or Alternative Solutions, inclusive of evacuation and smoke movement modelling.
  • Conduct construction monitoring inspections onsite.
  • Peer review fire engineering assessments.
  • Review existing buildings for compliance.
About You

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • MEng specialising in Fire Safety Engineering or equivalent tertiary degree.
  • CPEng is preferred.
  • Fellowship of the Institution of Professional Engineers New Zealand (IPENZ) is advantageous.
  • Experience in fire engineering design within a consultancy, with a thorough understanding and practical knowledge of New Zealand Building Codes and Standards.
  • CFD Modelling (FDS), and Zone Modelling (B-Risk) skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with clients.
