About the Role
Our team is responsible for delivering conservation work on the ground through our biodiversity, recreation/historic, community engagement and visitor centre teams. As a Community Ranger, you will partner with key stakeholders to maintain and develop relationships with members of the community. You will be responsible for connecting with people and looking after our relationships at place.

The primary focus of this role is on the statutory elements of community work, including permit applications, monitoring commercial and private activity on Public Conservation Land, and supporting whanau, hapu and iwi in their role as kaitiaki of te taiao. You will also identify and execute opportunities to achieve conservation outcomes whilst working with iwi, businesses and the wider community. This includes processing permit applications, operating within a statutory framework involving following process and procedure, analysing and distributing information, and finding mutually beneficial solutions.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to bring your skills and experience to contribute to conservation outcomes focused on statutory processing for the Tongariro District. The successful applicant will have excellent communication skills, presenting information clearly and concisely both written and verbally, solid IT skills, comfortable using database systems, and proven problem-solving, critical-thinking and analysis skills.
