**If the land is well and the sea is well, the people will thrive**

At Te Papa Atawhai, Department of Conservation we express our spirit of service and serve Aotearoa through our purpose, Papatūānuku Thrives. Our organisational strategy, Te Kaupapa a Te Papa Atawhai, puts nature and people at the heart of everything we do. It is anchored by te reo Māori and te ao Māori, recognising that Te Tiriti o Waitangi and our whānau, hapū and iwi are central to all our mahi.

As our next Supervisor, Treaty and Community / Kaitauawhi, Āo Hāpori you will be reporting to the local Operations Manager, your role is to instil and maintain a great team culture, assign work to your team, and to inspire, support, and coach them to perform, and build their capability.

The distinctive point of difference for Whanganui District that sets us aside from all other Conservation Districts is the internationally unique and ground-breaking settlement legislation.

Te Awa Tupua Act 2017, and several other Treaty settlements and pending settlements, underpin all our work in the Whanganui National Park. This is an exciting and dynamic time for this District and is historically significant.

Your enthusiasm and passion for making a positive contribution toward understanding our role in conservation during these formative years will be evident. You will be challenged to inspire your team to seek and deliver conservation outcomes in this unique environment.

As a key part of the district's leadership team, you will lead your team of Rangers to deliver the district's Treaty and Community work programme deliverables.

Above all, the health, safety and wellbeing of staff will be your highest priority.
