About the Role

The role of a Health Improvement Practitioner (HIP) is to provide clients with clinical therapeutic support based on the Behavioural Health Consultancy (BHC) model.

The purpose of the BHC model is to improve health outcomes for clients facing psychological and physical wellbeing challenges in primary care.

As an integrated member of local General Practices, you will provide immediately accessible, evidence-based brief interventions to individuals and their families to assist in improving their mental and physical health and wellbeing.

Focused Acceptance Commitment Therapy (fACT) is the primary brief intervention used.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide clinical therapeutic support to clients using the BHC model
  • Deliver client-led behavioural health services working directly within General Practice
  • Work collaboratively with key stakeholders to ensure quick connection to social and specialist supports

Requirements

  • Current New Zealand registration as a health professional (Psychology, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, or Social Work)
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a registered field
  • Qualifications in CBT, ACT or fACT are an advantage but not essential
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
  • Flexibility to work at a fast pace with a flexible schedule
