About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Ophthalmologist to join our team at the Southland Hospital Eye Department. As a dynamic and hardworking individual, you will be responsible for providing ophthalmology services to all of Southland.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in routine ophthalmology clinics and theatre
  • Be flexible with scheduling and participate in the on-call roster
  • Contribute to the close-knit team and work collaboratively with colleagues
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Completed specialist training and eligibility for vocational registration with the New Zealand Medical Council
  • FRANZCO or equivalent board certification (American board of Ophthalmology, FRCSC, FRCOphth)
  • Excellent communication and time management skills
  • Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth
