About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Ophthalmologist who knows the New Zealand health system intricately and can navigate its challenges. This dynamic individual will participate in routine ophthalmology clinics, theatre, and on-call rosters, requiring excellent time management skills and flexibility with scheduling.

The successful candidate must have completed specialist training, be eligible or hold vocational registration with the New Zealand Medical Council, and possess strong communication and time management skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in on-call rosters, routine ophthalmology clinics, and theatre
  • Be flexible with scheduling and adapt to changing priorities
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with patients, colleagues, and stakeholders
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Eligibility for vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand FRANZCO or equivalent board certification
  • Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth
  • Experience in projects/initiatives that give effect to Te Tiriti principles and frameworks, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings
