About Historic Claims
Historic Claims provides an Alternative Disputes Resolution Service to assist claimants who have raised allegations or concerns of abuse or neglect while in State care. We work with claimants to understand their past experience in care, acknowledge and recognise the harm they've experienced, and take steps to put this right.
Our key focus is delivering the best possible outcomes for claimants, ensuring they encounter a positive experience whenever they interact with us.
Your Role
You'll cover two key functions within Historic Claims: individual claim assessments and personal information requests. Depending on demand and priorities, you may perform across and between these functions.
You'll use available information to conduct assessments against our framework and provide recommendations to support decision-making. You'll work as part of a team to deliver the best outcomes for claimants who have been abused in State care.
In the Information Coordination element of your role, you'll provide timely responses to requests for information. This involves reading, reviewing and releasing claimants' personal data while ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.
This is a crucial aspect of the resolution process, as releasing information can provide claimants with vital insight into their past experiences in care.
- A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent relevant work experience (advantageous)
- Good knowledge of applicable legislation (Privacy Act)
- Prioritise work to achieve results with attention to detail and synthesise large amounts of information while working under an established assessment framework
- Demonstrate excellence in client-focused administrative and corporate advice and services to managers and staff
- Exemplary standard of written and oral communication, emotional intelligence and logical reasoning skills
- Demonstrate empathy and understanding of client needs, concerns and priorities
- Ability to read, absorb and interpret large amounts of information (up to 300 pages) daily
