About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Clinical Nurse Shift Leader to join our team at Whare Whakaue Mental Health Acute Inpatient Unit based at Rotorua Hospital. As a key member of our leadership team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care and developing the skills of junior staff.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and coordinate workloads and resources on a shift-by-shift basis, taking into account upcoming shifts and future requirements.
  • Provide coaching and leadership in managing acute situations and serve as a knowledge resource to others.
  • Mentor junior and overseas-trained staff to deliver high standards of care, promoting growth and development within the team.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in acute inpatient mental health nursing, with a minimum of 4 years' experience and 3 years in an acute inpatient setting. You should also possess competency in Te Ao Māori, Tikanga, and Te Reo Māori or be committed to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth.
