Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Regulatory Specialist to join our Assessment Group in Regulatory Practice & Delivery. As a member of this team, you will play a critical role in assessing applications by overseas investors to acquire New Zealand assets and making assessments on acquisitions and disposals under the Public Works Act.

About the Role:

  • Assess applications under the Overseas Investment Act and Public Works Act
  • Exercise sound judgment and convey analyses to decision-makers
  • Ensure deadlines are met and high-quality assessments are completed
  • Assess and make recommendations on Official Information Act requests
  • Contribute to ongoing projects within the team

Key Responsibilities:

You will work collaboratively with our Customer Regulatory Specialists to ensure we meet legislative requirements and timeframes for our overseas investors. Your primary role will be assessing applications, exercising sound judgment, and effectively conveying your analyses and recommendations to decision-makers, including Ministers and applicants.

Requirements:

  • Current or prior experience working with the Overseas Investment Act or Public Works Act is highly desirable
  • A relevant tertiary degree in law, economics, commerce, accounting, or similar field would be advantageous
  • Demonstrated strong analytic and assessment skill set
  • Strong attention to detail and exceptional written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to identify key issues and risks from a wide range of information
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to deliver high quality work in a timely manner
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others and build strong working relationships
  • A high level of competency with technology and systems
  • Customer centric, agile approach to work
  • Understanding of and commitment to Te Tiriti and engagement with Maori and iwi
