Residential Support Specialist

Oranga Tamariki's Hillcrest facility provides residential and day programmes for young male offenders or young males at risk of offending. We offer a unique opportunity for you to develop your skills and experience as a Residential Youth Worker.
In this role, you will work with a diverse range of clients, including those with complex needs. Your ability to engage with these individuals and establish strong relationships will be essential in supporting their personal growth and rehabilitation.
About the Role:
This role involves guiding behavioural change, which requires empathy, resilience, and honesty. As a Residential Youth Worker, you will work closely with the team to maintain a safe and secure environment for the benefit of the rangataki, staff, and the community.
You will also work with rangataki to help them build and strengthen relationships with their whānau and communities, and encourage them to act on referrals to services.
Your Skills and Experience:
- Experience in Social Services or working with at-risk children and youth.
- Conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
- Cultural awareness particularly around Māori and Pacifica communities.
- Ability to establish relationships with people from all walks of life.
- Good computer skills, particularly with MS Office Software; report writing is part of this role.
