**Job Description**

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to fill a part-time permanent position as a Medical Laboratory Pre-Analytical Technician in our Specimen Services department.

The successful candidate will work closely with our dynamic and culturally diverse team to contribute to the delivery of high-quality patient care.

This role involves working in a fast-paced environment, processing specimens, and maintaining accurate records. You will be responsible for participating in fully rostered shifts, including evening and midnight shifts, at both North Shore Hospital and Waitakere Hospital laboratory campuses.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent data entry skills, knowledge of sample collection tube types, and strong written and verbal communication skills.

**Key Responsibilities**

Key responsibilities include:

  • Processing specimens and maintaining accurate records;
  • Maintaining a clean and organized workspace;
  • Collaborating with other team members to achieve goals and objectives;
  • Providing exceptional customer service to patients and colleagues alike;
  • Participating in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care.

**Requirements**

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Medical Sciences (MS) Council of New Zealand registration or be willing to work towards MS Council registration as a Medical Laboratory Pre-Analytical Technician;
  • NZ residency or NZ citizenship;
  • Experience and skill in Specimen Services tasks;
  • Ability to cover service delivery hours' weekdays, weekends, and public holidays;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Excellent data entry skills.
